EASTER 2012
THE UPRISING – EASTER DRAMA
Friday, April 6 - Sunday, April 8, 2012
We need many, many volunteers to make our Easter production a success. If you're interested in helping with costumes, set, props, backstage, publicity, and more, keep reading; there's a job for you! Unless otherwise noted, please contact Alida Lowe for more information.
Costumes
We need people to do everything from sew tunics to work with leather to make armour. No experience necessary; we have jobs for crafters of all skill levels! Please contact Sue Krawchuk (403-589-2242).
Set
Can you wield a hammer or paintbrush? We need you to help turn the stage into first-century Israel! Much of the work in this department will take place during the two weeks prior to Easter weekend, but there also are large set pieces to be built and painted before then. This is a great way for families to get involved together -- kids in late elementary school and older are welcome to volunteer here.
Props
Hundreds of props are needed for a production this size, and our Prop Master could use some help tracking them all down and making the items we can't find anywhere else. You could be doing anything from finding palm branches to making bread out of sponges. Come learn some theatrical magic and help the small details of the show come to life.
Makeup
Do you have experience with stage makeup, particularly wounds? If so, we need your help!
Backstage
There are over 60 actors in this show, and we need an organized backstage crew to work with our Stage Management team to help them all get onstage at the right time with the right props in their hands! This job requires availability every evening of the show week (April 1-8), in addition to some Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings during March.
Front of House
We'll have hundreds of audience members come and see this show on Easter weekend, and we'll need a strong corps of ushers and parking attendants to help them find their way. If you love making people feel welcome, this is the volunteer area for you!
Publicity
Help us ensure that we have an audience so that those Front of House volunteers have something to do -- we need people to hang posters around the community, distribute postcards, publicize the show online, and contact the media for coverage.
Music
This show will have a live orchestra, and we're always interested in auditioning new instrumentalists to bring the original score to life. Contact Colin Lowe (403-241-9777, ext 254) for more details or to arrange an audition.
