Short Term Mission to Cambodia 2013
Location: Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia
Dates: July 28 – August 11, 2013
Team Leader: Steve Plett
CMA International Workers Bill/Illana and Dave/Patti run English Camps for Cambodian teens each summer. Team members will teach English in a small group format each morning and spend time with local youth each afternoon at various attractions around Siem Reap. CMA International Worker Kim (Love Your Neighbour Ministries) helps vulnerable Vietnamese immigrants learn more about the love of Christ through education, church and livelihood projects. We hope to support Kim in her work.
Conversational English for Cambodian teens is a very valuable tool in their education and future career planning since most of the higher education is English based. Short term team members also develop lasting relationships with the teens they spend time with during the week. This allows them to share the love of Jesus on a very personal level as they develop that relationship. By teaching the Vietnamese people a skill that they can use as a livelihood, short term worker help to alleviate the common effects of poverty in Cambodia such as child prostitution and more.
