Elizabeth Matthias

Elizabeth is a lecturer in biblical counseling at the Martin Bucer Seminary (MBS) in Berlin, Germany. The MBS is a reformed seminary whose goal is to provide academic training within a mentoring relationship to students who are actively involved in ministry during their further studies. Besides developing the counseling program at MBS, Elizabeth is also engaged in church-planting efforts in the eastern part of Berlin.

Having studied psychology (U of C) and theology with a counseling emphasis (Westminster Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, 1999), Elizabeth first served in Nigeria at the Reformed Theological Seminary, Mkar, where she taught biblical counseling for five years. Her combined academic and applied/missions focus - understanding and applying the Scriptures in everyday life - is the heartbeat of MBS where she serves now. Shes also continuing this focus in her DMin studies, again through WTS.

Elizabeth was born in Calgary, of German immigrant parents, but was born again in Germany. It is wonderful providence to be back in this land! Though her immediate family is in Calgary and Toronto, all her other relatives are in Germany - and are not church-goers.

Please pray that God would bless the work at the Martin Bucer Seminary so that both Elizabeth and all the faculty and students there, would grow together in Christ - and may they be used of God in Germany to glorify His Name!
