Ric and Ruth-Anne Gilbertson

Ric grew up in Hamilton ON receiving Christ as Saviour at age 17 and shortly after sensed God’s calling to vocational ministry. The fall of 1979 he attended Canadian Bible College (CBC - now Ambrose University College) taking two years during his studies to attend a Capernwray Bible School in Germany and then to work in his home church. While in Europe, Ric began to sense God’s call to serve Him as an International Worker. This call grew as he returned to his formal studies and was confirmed in 1982 while in Colombia SA for a six week mission’s trip.

Ruth-Anne grew up in a pastor’s home. Not only did she receive Christ as a child, but also as a young child, she began to feel God’s call to International Work. This call was later confirmed in her teens and as a young adult through short term mission’s trips to Colombia, Ecuador and Guatemala. She attended CBC (Ambrose) in order to prepare herself for International Ministry and graduated in 1982.

Ric and Ruth-Anne met at CBC and were married in 1984. Ric obtained a Master of
Divinity from Canadian Theological Seminary and a Master of Theology from Regent
College. They then pastored the Warburg Alliance Church for three years.

In August 1992 Ric and Ruth-Anne and their 2 children left for Costa Rica for a year of language study before going on to Venezuela in September 1993 to begin work as church planters in Valencia. Following home assignment in 1997, they returned to live in Valencia where they were involved in the development and implementation of a training program for pastors and leaders for the Venezuelan Alliance churches nationally.

In February 2004, Ric and Ruth-Anne were asked to serve as Regional Developers for the international workers serving with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada in the Caribbean Sun region (Central and South America). They continued to reside in Valencia, Venezuela.

During their year of home assignment in 2007, due to a need within Global Ministries, Ric and Ruth-Anne also began to work in the area of mobilization and development for all new international workers with the Alliance. In August 2008, the Gilbertson left their regional job in order to move full time into this new ministry which is referred to as CONVERGE. Ruth-Anne’s primary role is to oversee and coach those who are on the journey of being deployed overseas with the Alliance, while Ric concentrates mainly helping to put in place the best structures so that the candidates can be prepared spiritually and professionally for the ministries in which they will enter.
