Jason was born in Calgary and has never left. He grew up attending Foothills Alliance Church and has always called it home. Upon graduating high school he attended Alliance University College at which time he felt called to youth ministry. In 2007, Jason graduated with his Bachelor of Ministry with a Concentration in Youth. He has a great passion to help students experience fullness of life through Christ Jesus. It is his desire to see students living passionate lives as they seek the plans God has set before them.

Carla Olsen Draper
Pastor of Women's Ministries and Missions

Carla has a deep calling to church ministry. She believes that the communion of God's people is essential to spiritual growth and mission.

Carla is a graduate of Canadian Bible College and has ministered in Alliance churches in Stoney Creek, Ontario and Regina, Saskatchewan. She and her husband, Ken, have four children.

Her commitment is to support and develop relationships and ministries where women and men can learn to love and serve God and others here in Calgary and around the world.

Roland Feltmate
Pastoral Care Assistant











Roland was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. After teaching school for several years, he served as Lead Pastor at churches in Victoria, Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary. His wife, Linda, is a Calgarian. They are delighted that their two children and five grandchildren also live here in Calgary.

Roland's current passion is to come along side those who need extra pastoral care - especially those who are ill at home or in the hospital. While his ministry extends to the whole congregation, he has an special burden for seniors.

Tim Gibbons
Pastor of Campus Ministries










Tim was born in Owen Sound, Ontario and he has been travelling West ever since! After his high school days he spent a year at CBC in good ol’ Regina. He went on to further studies at EBC in Kitchener, ON. It is here where he met Danae who is from the land of Manitoba. In the Fall of 2001 they were married and the very next Fall they started ministering at Braeside EMC in Winnipeg as Associate Pastor couple of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. While in Winnipeg they had two beautiful additions to their family - Kaia and Hadley! After 7 years of serving in Winnipeg they entered a new chapter in their life and arrived here in Calgary in August 2009. It’s his desire to see young people grow strong in the Lord and live their life passionately for Christ. He enjoys playing golf, drinking java at Starbucks, playing with his kids and spending time with his family in the great outdoors! He's also a huge Leafs fan!!!

Susan Herman
Community Impact Coordinator










Susan graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree with distinction. As a social worker she gained diverse experience working in areas including foster care, victim assistance, and affordable housing before joining the Foothills Pastoral team in the summer of 2008.

As Community Impact Coordinator, Susan is passionate about social justice and journeying alongside those who are encountering difficult circumstances in life. Bringing faith and social work together creates an opportunity to extend God’s grace and hope to those in need while skillfully assisting those experiencing complex issues.

She is married to Troy and is blessed with a wonderful son who is the joy of their lives.

Liz Kahle
Youth Ministry Associate










Liz was born in Ottawa, Ontario where she spent the first 19 years of her life. Liz graduated from Canadian Bible College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Ministry: Church Ministries concentration. During her years at Bible school, she discovered her passion to come alongside young people in helping them to discover their gifts, value, and purpose.

In August of 2009 Liz took on a part-time position with the youth department at Foothills Alliance Church. Her role is to work with both the female youth and female leaders in providing a place for them to experience community, safety, and growth in their own journey with Christ.

Eric Lai
Associate Pastor of Adult Ministries

Eric was called to equip for ministry in 1996 at a time when he was running a successful IT consulting business in Calgary. After receiving his Master of Arts in Theological Studies, he accepted a pastoral position at his home church, a Chinese Alliance church, in 2002 and was ordained during his 7+ years of ministry there. In the spring of 2011, Eric joined Foothills at the end of a very refreshing sabbatical year.

Eric’s passion is to be Christ's extension in touching lives. Through caring, counseling, and teaching, he thrills in being part of a transformation process in which God uses to change lives. It is his desire to see the local community being transformed into a community of faith in action.

Eric and his wife, Elaine, are blessed with 2 children who see serving as part of their lifestyle. Currently, the children are studying at the university.

Patricia Love
Pastor of Intercultural Ministries










Patricia (also called Patti) works with and for New Canadians at Foothills Alliance Church. She grew up in Canada but has lived and traveled in many countries.

Most recently she and her husband and children were in the Philippines for eleven years, where she experienced the challenge of learning another language and adjusting to a different culture.

Patricia has been involved in church ministry and has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) both in the Philippines and in Canada. She has a Bachelor of Religious Education as well as a masters degree in the area of intercultural studies and an M. A. in English language teaching.

Patricia's passion is to help New Canadians as they adjust linguistically and culturally and to share her love for Jesus with others. Patricia and her husband Rick have four children.

Jerry Orthner

Jerry joined the Foothills pastoral team in the Fall of 2007 as Pastor of Adult Ministries. Jerry and his wife, Karen, have enjoyed over fifteen of years of pastoral ministry together, most recentlly in Phoenix, Arizona. They have two active teenage daughters, Sophia and Katie, who bring amazing amounts of joy to their lives.

Jerry's passion is to help people grow and develop in the three most important areas of life--our relationships with God, family, and friends.

Bronwyn Spilsbury

Bronwyn Spilsbury loves kids and really believes they are central in God's heart. As Pastor of Children's Ministries her desire is to see each child at Foothills grow in relationship with Jesus Christ through creative Bible teaching, loving leadership and a fun, accepting atmosphere.

God's unique design of each child motivates and inspires the entire children's ministry staff and the fabulous kids' volunteer base, making the Foothills Extreme Kids program outstanding.

Bronwyn grew up on the mission field in India where the beauty of the country and the hospitality of the people left a lasting influence on her. Bronwyn has a bachelor's degree in religious education.

She married to Paul and they have two terrific young sons.

Ian Trigg

Ian and his wife Joyce, are both native Calgarians who moved back to Calgary and Foothills in the summer of 2001, after 15 years of ministry in the Okanagan. They have three active kids who bring amazing amounts of joy and busyness into their lives.

Ian's passion is to help people discover the grace and the peace that comes to a person when they grow an authentic relationship with God.

Scott Wiesner
Director of Worship & Arts

Scott grew up in a musical Christian family on a farm in rural Manitoba. After receiving his Bachelor of Theology degree at Canadian Bible College, he interned and then was hired on staff at an Alliance church in Windsor, ON. After serving as Youth Pastor for 5 years, scott transitioned to the role of Worship Arts Pastor, which he has been doing and enjoying since the year 2000. It was in Windsor that Scott met and married his wife and best friend Nori. Scott and Nori have 3 amazing, energetic boys who bring them incredible joy.

As a Worship Arts Pastor, Scott's passions include:

Creating meaningful services of worship where seekers and believers alike experience the presence of God, are captivated by Christ, and are inspired to pursue a passionate relationship with him.

Providing artists from every field the opportunity to use their gifts in the context of worship and to encourage, train and challenge them to bring the very best they have to offer as a sacrifice of praise to the Lord and in so doing edify the body of Christ.

Shattering the mind set of our culture that church is the most boring place that people could spend an hour of their week.

Continuing to grow in his love relationship with Jesus Christ and his gifting; to be a lead worshipper whose example others would be inspired to follow.
